Built on Family, Built on Listening

When people ask how ODD Roofing got started, they often expect a story about roofing.

But the truth is, it started with family.

For years, I watched my husband, Wayne, pour everything he had into helping build other people’s businesses. I watched him leave before sunrise, come home after dark, solve impossible problems, lead crews, care for customers, and develop incredible skills in the roofing and home improvement industry.

And while I was proud of him, I couldn’t help but wonder what would happen if all of that talent, experience, and passion was poured into something of his own.

Something that reflected who he really is.

Something that reflected our values.

That’s where ODD Roofing began.

As Wayne continued building his expertise through years of experience in roofing and home improvement, including time spent working with companies like Lowe’s and numerous roofing contractors, we began having conversations about what we would do differently if we ever had the opportunity to build our own company.

Those conversations eventually became a business plan.

That business plan became ODD Roofing.

And ODD Roofing became a dream realized.

For me, one of the most exciting parts of this journey has been stepping into business ownership as a woman in an industry that has traditionally been dominated by men.

Construction and roofing have long been male-driven fields, and while there are many incredible professionals in the industry, I also noticed something that seemed to be missing.

Too often, companies focus on selling before they focus on listening.

Too often, homeowners feel like they are being talked at instead of talked with.

Too often, the goal becomes closing the sale rather than understanding the person.

As I looked at roofing through a different lens, I realized that homeowners don’t just need contractors.

They need people they can trust.

They need someone willing to slow down, answer questions, explain options, and help them make the decision that is best for their family—not necessarily the decision that creates the biggest invoice.

So when Wayne and I built ODD Roofing, we built it around one simple idea:

Listen first.

Before we recommend.

Before we estimate.

Before we sell.

We listen.

We want to understand what you’re concerned about.

We want to know what your goals are.

We want to know what your budget looks like.

We want to know what we would recommend if you were our parents, our grandparents, our neighbors, or our closest friends.

Because that’s how we believe business should be done.

At ODD Roofing, we aren’t interested in convincing people to buy something they don’t need.

If your roof can be repaired, we’ll tell you.

If there’s a simple solution, we’ll explain it.

If there’s a way to extend the life of your roof and save you money, we’ll share that too.

That’s not because we’re trying to avoid work.

It’s because we’re trying to build trust.

And trust lasts a lot longer than a sales pitch.

Since opening our doors in January 2023, we’ve been humbled by the support we’ve received from homeowners, businesses, churches, nonprofits, and communities across Western North Carolina.

We’ve had the opportunity to work on incredible projects, meet amazing people, and grow faster than we ever imagined.

But through all of that growth, one thing hasn’t changed:

We’re still a family business.

We’re still community-minded.

And we’re still committed to treating every customer the way we’d want our own family treated.

As we continue to grow, expand our team, and serve more communities, our hope is simple.

We hope that when you interact with ODD Roofing, you don’t feel like another project number.

We hope you feel heard.

We hope you feel respected.

And most importantly, we hope you feel like you’re working with people who genuinely care.

Because at the end of the day, roofing isn’t really about shingles, nails, or materials.

It’s about people.

And that’s why we’ll always believe in putting people over roofs, and people over profits.

Thank you for being part of our story.

We can’t wait to continue building what’s next—together.
